GOVERNANCE

Our management operates on two levels: Hospital Board and Management Team. The Hospital Board is the decision-making body of the hospital, whose members are appointed by the Local Ordinary, the Bishop of the Diocese of Leribe His Lordship Bishop Augustinus Bane OMI. Sisters of Charity of Ottawa have been entrusted to run Seboche Hospital by the Church to date. Their Mission Statement amongst others includes the care of the sick and those in need, hence found in most of the Church health settings in Lesotho. There are lots of developments such as infrastructures and procurement of medical equipment and paying hospital debts at times the Congregation did for the success of the facility.

This body meets quarterly and whenever necessary, the chairperson can call extra ordinary meetings when need arises. The primary role of the Board of Seboche Hospital is to oversee management and to ensure that the organisation’s affairs are being conducted in a manner that facilitates the achievement of the objectives defined for the organisation.

It is the responsibility of the Board to ensure that management has implemented an effective process for identification of risk, minimizing these risks and monitoring and managing potential risk that the organization may face in the future. The Board accomplishes this by setting and approving prudent and effective controls for risk identification, assessment and management, defining and approving the corporate code of conduct and by developing and approving the charter of responsibilities, which covers the board policy statements, board functions and procedures, and Board and Hospital Management relationships in greater detail.
